This week, the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) made an interesting — and perhaps profound — announcement which will allow college athletes to publicly support social justice causes near and dear to them, in a unique way. Social Justice Advocate, Eric Nelson discusses this exciting update:

According to a release from the NCAA, college athletes will now be able to make unique, individualized statements with their uniforms.  Athletes will now have the opportunity to don patches on the front of their jerseys that celebrates, memorializes or sheds light on people, events or social justice causes.  Eric Nelson is excited to see how this update to the uniform guidelines will shape how athletes approach social justice advocacy.  Naturally, spreading awareness often makes quite the difference.  So it will be interesting to see how college athletes will make use of this new opportunity to use their limelight to shine a spotlight on causes that count.
